The course provides beginning training in separation of nematodes from soil and plant material and identification of nematodes to genus. Seven Continuing Education Units and a certificate are given for successful completion of the course. There are approximately 20 hours of formally presented material and 30 hours of laboratory instruction. Each person is provided with dissecting and compound microscopes and fresh specimens of 26 common plant-parasitic nematode genera.
